"AccidentalLinking"

... refers to a phenomenon that happens when you make a wiki link to a page that you think doesn't exist and you're going to have to create, but when you save, the link _works_, because someone's already made a page with that name!

Anyone who's worked with wikis for a while knows this feeling -- it's pretty cool, and a little eerie.

AccidentalLinking happens because people solve the same problems or think of the same issues coming from different angles. By using a common language, people can find commonalities and maybe find solutions to issues they didn't know anyone else was facing.

We thought that "AccidentalLinking" would be a good theme for our first RoCoCoCamp. It would ground our event in the language of wikis and wiki practise, but emphasize that we're reaching across disciplines, across languages and across continents to make links and find commonalities. That maybe the solutions we are seeking are already there, if we can find a common language for making the link.
